Ok, I'm convinced. I need to pick up Noll's book soon. Every quote sounds intriguing, and it all requires the rest of his argument before I can quite grasp what he is aiming at.
A few days ago I had the extreme pleasure of spending a few hours with Mark's brother Craig whom I've wanted to meet for years. The experience dwarfed any expectation I could have formed. He is a giant of a man, not in size but in character. He gave the impression of being somewhat like James the brother of Jesus, but without the camel knees.
I'm off track. Yes, I will pick up MN's book on Civil War and Theology.
